Thorough Violin Dimensions

The author is through and thoughtful. I use his measurements in repairing student instruments. You should find any dimension you need here. His comments are thoughtful and if there are two sides to an issue he shows both. Recommended

Lack of drawings and info.

I don't agree with the other reviews, besides a useful bridge template, there are general measures that every violin maker already know. I was expecting something more detailed, and only violin info. Of course there is nothing wrong with having celo o viola measures, but i didn't find them helpful.

IDEAL REFERENCE

There are MANY questions and VERY few obvious answers to the details in violin setup and repair. This book solves that problem. It provides the industry standards. Thank you, Mr Stroebel!

Good reference material for violin building

Good reference material for violin building. I have found the information on fractional size violins quite helpful, especially the bridge templates - as I have been doing quite a few new bridges for small violins lately. I wish that this book had more information about specific violas (I realize that there is no "Standard" size viola, thus my suggestion of specific instruments) Much of the information I don't find particularly helpful - but the info I need does the trick every time.
